Innovative Award Winner Announced18 January 2006 The 2006 inaugural Magic Millions and Stablemate Yearling Groom Award has been won by the team (which had 10 yearlings in their care) from Riverslea Stud, owned by Steve and Karen Irwin. Criteria for judging the award was divided into 4 sections, each being judged by 3 anonymous judges. By the end of the judging period 2 farms were 12 points clear of all the remaining teams, however a number of other teams did perform well. At the end of the sale Riverslea had edged out Tyreel Stud, managed by John Vincent, in a very close result. The Riverslea team received a cash prize of $2,000 to be shared among each member of the team, as well as a trophy. Both Stablemate and Magic Millions were very happy with the way the award was received by the studs selling at the sale, and are sure that next year it will be bigger and better. (Jan 18)...
